The administration’s inability to meet its goal for enrolling young, healthy “invincibles” on the Obamacare exchanges has mired the entire Obamacare program in the so-called “death spiral,” which drives up health insurance rates because older, sicker people are primarily signing up.

She's 28 and responsible. She was told by the lady that she would be hearing from the exchange. That's all I know. Apparently the exchange is slow in responding.
28 and her parents had to go with her? I rest my case
I have kids in their 40's that still ask me to help with stuff, or I volunteer. We are a family and so is my friend and his wife and kids.

A good single payer plan probably would have saved us a lot of money. But, the industry lobbied against it. With the ACA the best we can hope for is a slowing of premium growth. Saying it will be cheaper doesn't always mean cheaper than it is today. Just less than it would have been. It is important that they get the "young invincibles" to sign up, to keep premiums down. But, the Koch machine has been pumping out disinformation to discourage just that. The right is doing everything they can to disrupt the implementation of the ACA, and when their efforts are successful claiming "I told you so". That's pretty lame.

That's the key Tom and we discussed that before the law as in affect. Premiums were going to climb, just not double digit yearly increases. I think when it is all said and done, the affordable care act will have been shown to have hurt more than it helped. And is the precursor to a single payer format of some kind. Maybe a nationalizing of healthcare.

I've said all along the ACA is flawed. But, like most legislation it is a compromise. At the time they couldn't get a buy in for the public option with many democrats. Just repealing it like the GOP is calling for would put us back to square one. It's basically a GOP style plan that protects the revenue stream for the insurance companies. The GOP vilifying of it is more about denying Obama any sort of thing that could be interpreted as a win, than it is about substance.

Can you imagine the cries of commie takeover if single payer or nationalized health care was proposed? They are calling the ACA a government takeover, which is hardly is. It protects the insurance companies, the hospitals, doctors, the drug companies and the the device makers. The only cost saving is through efficiencies and universal coverage mandates.

The GOP had zero say in that legislation. It is all Democrat. And the Dems will pay for it at the next election because the people know Obama said their premiums were going to go down but they are going up.

Inteeresting to read that Republicans are opposed to using private Health Insurance companies to cover people's health care needs.

First I have heard that charge. Which private Health Insurance companies have Republicans been opposed to and which Republicans opposed their use? Names please.
