What are the impairments to driving and mood due to weed? Are we going to now have to fear stoners on the highway?

They, like those who drink and drive, have been on the highway for years. They are treated like DUI's.

Sea Dog,

Thanks for your permission. However you may not be correct about your kids. They, like us, often do things that parents wish that they wouldn't and don't tell them about it.

However you should understand that both tobacco and alcohol are more addictive than pot and cause more death and destruction.

You ever talk to a dedicated stoner ? Pot kills all ambition and incentive . Case in point , I know a young buck that had a sucessfull handyman buisness , got started on pot and now has nothing and is about to become homeless

Anything that turns your brain into mush can't be good and this may cost CO money in the long run with more pot heads.

Legalize the works, tax it, use some of the money for treatment programs. Throw anyone selling stuff to minors in jail and throw away the key. Mexico's drug cartel problem would disappear overnight. So would the US deficit.

The other tactic sure did not work.

I've seen what pot use does to people. Legalizing it will lead to problems.

Have you ever worked with a hard core alcoholic? The drug alcohol destroys more individuals and families than pot ever could. I used to hate working major holidays because "the family that drinks together too often slaughter each other." As a rule people don't beat and murder each other when they are stoned. They mostly chill and eat.

A % of the population have addictive personalities and, no matter what, they will find something to get addicted to.

I think pot should be legalized. Not that I think it is harmless. But, people are going to do what they are going to do and prohibition doesn't work. I've known many alcoholics, many of them family members. Some are functional, others are total screw ups who can't hold a job or behave responsibly. I've know many pot smokers, again many of them family members. Those that started early and used it often seem to be a little foggy between the ears even when they aren't high. I've read a recent survey that those who start in their early teens and smoke regularly loose as significant amount of IQ points by the time they are 35. Maybe not too bad if you were a genius to start with, but for someone average that might make the difference between being successful or not. Most of the stoners I know are pretty much bottom feeders. But, they do it even if it's illegal, so why waste time and money trying to enforce bans. Mights as well legalize and tax it, and take some of that money to educate kids about the downsides of substance abuse.
