I received first hand envy from a member here who sent me a pm saying I am a fake. That I do not own any business nor own cars nor have done all the things I say.

Envy is a dangerous feeling for the possessor. It cuts a hole in their stomach

Me, not envious. I am happy when others do well. I have an employee that often wins $1000 or so on scratchers, soccer betting etc. It does not matter, this guy wins. I am thrilled for him. I am happy to see others doing well. My friend came up with a product, got his patent and already has been offered 15 million by a major company. I am thrilled for him. He is a great guy, he deserves his reward.
Envy serves no purpose. I would rather do the best I can do then worry about what another is doing
I have been to jcapps house in LA. I can attest that he does own several cars and that he is into construction. His garage looks more like the service dept of a car dealer than a garage.

This is not about income redistribution, it is about everybody paying their fair share of the costs of a stable civilized society. In many ways that ls redistribution, but that is a necessary part of any stable peaceful society. The days of ghengis khan and everybody for themselves, are hopefully behind us. Unless you yearn for the sort of state we see in Somalia.

What you are emphasizing is not egalitarianism.

As an old man, you are envious of their age. The average youth of Canada or the US will not live the life of leisure that you are experiencing when they are your age.

I guess we will NEVER be able to accuse members of the US Right of Egalitarianism. Most of then would NEVER favor the concept that other "people should be treated as equals"

That, and envy, does go a long way in explaining may of the4 attitudes of the US Right.

I favor people being treated as equals and I'm right of center.

Good for you, Pat. But I recall more than one member of the US Right on this forum asserting that you are left than right in thought and behavior.

The enviers do not seek to identify positive action they can take. They don’t ask: What can I do to become an achiever, too? They want the achievers to share their success and their wealth, so that these, and their consequence, happiness, would be more equally distributed. Surely, most people do not go to their better-off neighbors directly to ask for some their money or one of their cars; however, they whole-heartedly support government’s progressive income tax schemes that make those who produce the most pay a disproportionate amount of taxes. For example, the top 1% of the income earners in the United States pay 30% of all the income taxes, whereas almost 50% of Americans pay no income tax at all.

What a moronic assumption. Your statements that liberals are envious is nonsense. Many liberals have taken positive action and lead extremely successful lives. They just don't believe in economic darwinism whereby the rich and powerful exploit everyone else and use their wealth to stack the cards in their favor.

I doubt the Hollywood millionaires have much envy in their liberal minds. Having a different philosophy and beliefs is something that evolves and hopefully modifies as more life lessons and research occurs. How many think the same as they did ten years ago? No modification?

I agree, pat. that is why I left the Republican party after they were hijacked by the right wing extremists.
