I find it hard to believe that it is OK for someone like Sheldon Addelson (the casino magnate) to spend millions supporting his candidate, but that it's somehow bad that unions can support a candidate that is favorable to their membership. But, that is the twisted logic that has a grip on the Foxites. Perhaps we should start using the term, corporate thugs like they do when speaking of unions.

I think the term "REACTIONARIES" fits the people involved better.

Check your income tax forums. See if you can make a deduction of union dues.

I thought you could also deduct mortgage payments. So the government is also susidizing homeowners. Are you trying to tell me businesses cannot deduct dues, like those paid to various business associations? If they can, as is the case in Canada, possibly you can explain the diference.

Are you going to push for a stop to subsidies to churches, berton. Why not get up next sunday and suggest yours start paying taxes on its income. Afterall you are all for stopping subsidies are you not?

You conveniently skirt the problem of unions using much of their dues for political purposes. Millions and millions of dollars which so many liberals say are used to buy elections.

I don't have a problem with prohibiting unions from spending on politics, as long as corporations are banned too, and wealthy individuals limited to peanuts.

But liberals do not say anything about ending union spending. Only conservative spending.

It looks like the Sorosies have the Dem talking points down pat. Blame conservatives but never end the union spending or even talk about ending union spending. All they can do is come up with more names to defame people with.

Until the advent of the Citizens decision unions were forbidden by law to spend ANY collected dues for political purposes of any kind. They were only allowed to spend voluntary donations made by members for use for political purposes. If I recall correctly it was the US Right Wing who cheered the loudest for the Citizens decision.

LOL. I am a shareholder of several companies. They use my investment money for conservative donations, without asking me first. I am also sure they use some of the tax breaks they get to donate to conservative causes as well. In fact i know they do. Now please explain to me the difference. I know you can't, because the fact is, there is no diference. Take off those political blinders you tend to live in, you will find your vision clears.

Several things. One is that strawman you keep setting up for you to knock down yourself. This is not about businesses except that you whiners keep wanting to take away their freedom of speech.

Two, most businesses give to both parties.

Three, Churches are another strawman argument you keep setting up for you to knock down. Churches do not donate to political parties.

Four, you can go to stockholders meetings and have your say.

Now do you want to address the fact that unions have been able to donate to political parties and canadates for many many years now without limit and that they are subsidized by the government or not? While others have not been able to until the last few years and you liberals are whining to high heaven about it?

Why do you just make up liberal positions? Is it because you are misinformed by the Fox?

Liberals want big money out of politics, even on the dem side. Many have called for public financing of campaigns.
