Check your income tax forums. See if you can make a deduction of union dues.

I thought you could also deduct mortgage payments. So the government is also susidizing homeowners. Are you trying to tell me businesses cannot deduct dues, like those paid to various business associations? If they can, as is the case in Canada, possibly you can explain the diference.

Are you going to push for a stop to subsidies to churches, berton. Why not get up next sunday and suggest yours start paying taxes on its income. Afterall you are all for stopping subsidies are you not?

The most wasteful subsidies,
with which the right is on board,
are the obscene payments to
the nations farmers,
without a doubt among the most affluent
people out there!

And commercial fishermen. And they don't share their wealth.

Aside from tax relief on off road fuel costs,
which all businesses recieve,
I would be interested in hearing about
subsidies enjoyed by Canadian Freshwater
commercial fishermen.

You just arbitrarily narrowed it down to "Canadian Fresh Water" commercial fishermen.

The unions made our middle class. Look what's happened to the middle class as the unions die off.
I don't believe the demise of unions has anything to do with the current state of the middle class. Unions allowed workers the ability to share a greater percentage of what they produced, it's what they did with the increased income and benefits that was the true value, not the continuation of a status quo. Those that were good stewards and were thoughtful in how they handled their income and whether they took full use of the benefits to nuture their bodies, minds and asset accounts, in time, no longer needed union representation.

I don't have a problem with prohibiting unions from spending on politics, as long as corporations are banned too, and wealthy individuals limited to peanuts.

Personally I don't think a corporation, union, company or any other organized entity should be treated like an individual in the eyes of the law. The individuals have rights companies or unions don't and the companies ands unions enjoy benefits that are beyond the reach of individuals. But the court disagrees with me.

But berton and his ilk do not want that, they do not belive in fairness.
