,, a good collection of eye opening articles there, Brewster.
And a sad reminder of what happened 6 months ago in Megantic, Quebec where 47 people were killed and half of the city was destroyed by fire (train crash carying north Dakota crude oil)
By the way, the city of Megantic and the province of Quebec have still not received a single nickel of federal disaster relief money from our mutual friend (Harper).
The cleaning up costs alone are now estimated to be close to $1Billion and will take 3 to 5 years to complete.

Yup, Jack - I calculated the amount of electricity, but I didn't calculate the costs of the cleanups after each disaster.

One site listed the average cost of a disaster at $161 Million$. I'm not sure how they arrived at that number, other than they did NOT include the Gulf Oil mess , which was about $22Bn all on its own.

If we say 50 disasters per year, that's 8 Billion$, plus the Gulf mess, which I'll amortize over 5 years, makes another 4.

For a total cleanup cost of 12 Billion$ per year! That's enough money to run the state governments of Vermont, Wyoming, Montana, and Alaska - combined!

Not a very "Fiscally Conservative" way to run a country...

I think more birds get killed in the oilsands tailings than in all the windmills combined.

No whining, just the truth.

Ohh I see - having no experience with the truth, you assumed it was something else - I get it.
