Democrats broke Illinois and now trying to break it's constitution too; what is it about Democrats and their inability to manage spending?

Well MR, what do you think of the facts as presented in my last post?

They are pure facts and they aren't from a right wing propaganda source as you requested.
I understand the facts, Ban. What I want is for you to offer something as a solution rather than simply bitching. What possible good can that do?
So if the tornado hits your home leaving you seventy grand in debt and you bring it up it's bitching about it.

I have already suggested ways to deal with it Neal, you won't accept the harsh reality that they embrace. Three words, you cut spending. Three more, you raise revenue. Together they two are used to pay off the debt. And you begin setting aside money to pay for the entitlements earned by today's workers. Austerity to the 10th degree as you lob off government paid for programs and turn the popular ones into pay as you go by the users.

Isn't the plan that Illinois proposes cutting spending? You don't accept that. Raising revenue is a no no for conservatives which you claim to be. Since neither you nor I know what programs are essential, how can we decide what to cut? That has to be for the Illinois legislature to determine. Do you think that only popular programs should be kept? Wouldn't that be a subjective judgment based on need rather than wants?

It seems to me that the solution starts with a cleaning out of the Illinois state government with replacements being fiscal conservatives. Then end all non essential programs followed by cuts in all other programs. Raising taxes in a non starter since their taxes are already so high. Yes, the most needy and poor will get hurt the most. That is the consequence of following the spend and tax then spend some more of the present government. Sadly the very people the present government pretend to take care of with giveaways and more social programs will be hurt the most by what needs to happen to keep the state out of bankruptcy.

I am always amazed by the right wingers ho claim to favor States' Rights but think they and only they have answers for other States with which they have no real relationship. Again an example of ultra hypocrisy.

It is too bad that political ideology doesn't solve problems.

Some on the US right just cannot stand for a State or locality to make their own decisions about whom they elect and feel an undeniable urge to interfere.

All the while screaming that they're for states' rights.

But hey, they treat women the same way.

Great diversion to keep from suggesting an opinion.

What does Illinois need to do. They could try what Martin and Harper (and gang) did in Canada to lift them out of their financial doldrums. I'd have thought that Brew would have jumped all over that, boasting of Canada's financial position; but then, that would be going against the bylaws of the "Liberals Without Borders" organization.

Have you not read what Illinois is trying to do? It's been said on this thread.

Illinois should listen to their own voters and duly elected legislators, not to out of State right wing ideologues who cannot even vote in the State.
