This has nothing to do with me Sea Dog it has to do with people expecting longer term unemployment benefits when the unemployment level has now lowered and the previous threat has ended. In my opinion, unemployment and SS disability are two ways that welfare is being meted out to the undeserving. Why a pregnant woman got pregnant is her business, expecting the rest of us to foot her bills is another.
There are 4 million job openings in the US and 11 million unemployed. How do you figure that all those unemployed could get jobs? As for that pregnant woman, do you think to hell with the baby, who had nothing to do with the mother getting pregnant.
We'll see how this plays out Neal, my prediction is that 'if' congress allows the end of the extension to continue that, there will not be a big spike in unemployment or a loss of 200+ thousand jobs as the handwringers predict. Once the gravy train ends then the result will be to force those who have been using the program as a crutch when they really should have been seeking employment and getting jobs.

I also think it is irresponsible for an unemployed person who has no other means for support, to become pregnant. But that's their right but they don't have a right in my opinion to abuse the unemployment insurances plans. Unemployment insurance is designed as a stop gap while you seek and become employed.

What 11 million? We have gone through that before. It is 1.3 million. Why are you bringing it up again?

The assumption that people need training before they can find a job and that they are not the exception.
According to the BLS, there are 11 million unemployed. 1.3 million will lose their unemployment today and another 5 million will lose it next year, because they will only be able to collect for 26 weeks.
I made no such assumption.

Instead of an extension of benefits for the long term hard core unemployed, we need some sort of new deal work for pay programs. That would automatically take out those who are milking the benefit.
