According to the article, so many people shopped at Amazon and other online sites that it was impossible to deliver all the packages on time. I don't know how the brick and mortar operations are going to continue to survive, but if they do, it will be at a much smaller footprint.

We didn't get a package and the UPS van just went right by our home. Amazon is giving $20 credit if they promised it would be there by the 24th.

I wonder if Amazon will then go to the carriers and demand reimbursement?

Good thing it's being handled by Private Enterprise.

If the delivery companies were being run by the government, it would be a real mess.. The Republican Party would be screaming bloody blue murder that Obama is a terrible President for letting it happen.

LOL Suppose the US right will use this as an example of why private enterprise should handle a single payer health program?

Yup, when the brand new ObamaCare website couldn't handle the traffic, that was absolute proof the government couldn't do the job.

But when a well established Privately developed delivery system couldn't manage what it's been doing for years, and should have all the bugs out, it's just one of those things - a change in shopping patterns.

Apples and oranges Colo, the delivery system underestimated the growth of internet shopping and how many would order late thus necessitating a delivery by the 24th. The government knew about the Obamacare rollout for three years.

I think you just proved Colo's point, Pat.

How could a delivery system with years of experience underestimate its own business so badly?

Obamacare was starting from scratch, with no history to base its startup numbers, and Zero experience with the new software.

If UPS and FedEx would have known they would have been prepared, Obi knew what was coming, actually they thought more would come to the site than did so it was more of a boondoggle.

I don't agree Brew. There was nothing wrong with the delivery system except under estimating the capacity needed this last week of the season. The aircraft worked, the trucks worked, the workers and 50,000 plus extras worked. Now list all that has worked with the rollout of Obamacare.
