A question to Christians here; Phil Robertson's comments

With his characteristic bluntness, Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty warned the rest of us against being “deceived” by those who would have us think that “adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers” will “inherit the kingdom of God.”

As Christians do you agree with his summation of biblical teaching? If you don't, then can you show some biblical based reasoning behind your own interpretation? I read some links that pointed to biblical passages which seem to back Robertson's rant.

The Bible has contradictory comments on homosexuality. In a couple of places it condemns it, it others it appears to endorse it. Nothign odd about that, the bible is full of contradictions.

BTW God also has plenty to say about the current climate change issue. Especially fundamentlaist Christians who seem, for the most part, to be firmly in the camp of more pollutiton, screw the climate.

The nations were angry; and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets
and your saints and those who reverence your name,
both small and great—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth.“

Rev 11:18

I disagree with Robertson completely.

As for Biblical precedents, there are many passages where Jesus himself associated with sinners of all kinds, and I don't recall him ever saying sinners were doomed.

Romans 5:8,9 reads:
Quote:

But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

And of course, there's the famous passage about the stoning of the adulteress:
Quote:

Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone.

What I've noticed is that none of the professed Christians have responded to the thread.

What's the point, you who do not believe in a "creator" are going to accept anything a professed Christian says anyway.

As far as answering the question, apparently thus far in this thread, nobody seems to have an understanding as to what Christ was all about (addendum: accept for maybe Brew). But how could you when you don't believe he was who the bible says he was. What's the point.

I agree.

Dead wrong, Ban. I'm as Christian as anyone on this board, probably more so than most.

And I quoted the bible directly.
