Why are right wingers so intolerant of gays?

What possible difference can it make to them?
Because they're bigots!

Why are gays and liberals so intolerant of other people and their views?

Why did the right protest till Martin Bashir was terminated? Why did the right condemn the Dixie Chicks? Oh yeah it did not fit their agenda. Btw someone should defecate on Palin. The smell would match what comes from her mouth

We are not intolerant of those opinions. It's the way those opiniins are presented that we can't tolerate. On Fox this morning, for example, both Krauthammer and the other cons agreed it was the vile language he used that was inappropriate.

I guess this was all for naught, A&E has backed off their position and Robertson will be returned to his position on the show. With a growing number of customers voicing their outrage over what they believe is an attack on his freedom of speech, and the fact that this is the 2nd highest rated cable program with millions watching each week, political correctness lost out to corporate wisdom. A&E was not willing to face a death spiral as a network over the issue.

I read earlier that Wal-Mart and other merchants had completely sold out on Duck Dynasty themed merchandise. I also read that the family has a worth of $400,000,000 and were prepared to let the show go off the air rather than bend to the will of GLADD and A&E.

It looks like Phil Robertson's suspension from "Duck Dynasty" may be just for show. Entertainment Weekly learned that on Jan. 15, A&E will begin airing new episodes of the show that include scenes featuring the "Dynasty" patriarch.

"The network also hopes the media and fan furor will cool down over the holidays and that tensions over shooting future episodes can then be resolved," Entertainment Weekly reports. “There’s no negotiation to have; we’re doing the show,” an inside source told them.

A&E suspended Robertson over anti-gay remarks he made in a GQ profile. The duck hunter-turned-TV star compared homosexuality to bestiality and also said, “It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man’s anus." Robertson responded to backlash about his comments by saying, "I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me."

After A&E's suspension, Robertson's friends and family came out in support of him. Sources told E! News that the family was "very serious" about leaving the reality show after Robertson was placed on hiatus. "[Phil] is the reason for their success—they're not going to abandon him. They're also not about to let anyone threaten their religious beliefs," the source told E!. The family released a statement on the Duck Commander website saying, "We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith."

The episodes slated to air after the New Year are part of the show's fourth season, which averages a colossal 14.6 million viewers, including DVR playback, but there's no telling if a fifth season will happen. Based on the success of the "Duck Dynasty" brand -- the family even made a holiday album that sold surprisingly well -- we'd be surprised if the network let the show die. The Huffington Post's immediate request for comment was not returned.

The right of Freedom of Speech only applies to the governments attempt to stifle speech. Don't understand why you guys keep insisting that the network infringed his right to speech. The network has no such obligation.

I think all networks will. The power of a consumer boycott and the loss of advertising dollars. GLADD is in shock over this, I think they thought that they could steam roll the network (which was working), and then use their time tested play book which labels any opposition as homophobes and radicals. The problem in this case I believe, is the demographic of viewers are mostly religious and strong believers in the right to free speech.
