Still more argumentum ad hominem from Colo_crawdad who doesn't want to discuss the subject.

Seems to be a pattern growing here.

Whatever. Berton is fully engrossed in name calling through Latin phrases, often misused. When backed into a corner, he quickly resorts to such name calling and insulting comments about him being the only one who wants to discuss that which he cannot provide facts from credible news sources to back up his position.

What Berton just did was allow Colo to play another of his games.

True, but if it wasn't him who trashes the thread then it would have been one of the other liberals.

Perhaps I can help
Berton to better understand just what a "genetic fallacy" is.

Fallacy: Genetic Fallacy

Quote:

Description of Genetic Fallacy.

A Genetic Fallacy is a line of "reasoning" in which a perceived defect in the origin of a claim or thing is taken to be evidence that discredits the claim or thing itself. It is also a line of reasoning in which the origin of a claim or thing is taken to be evidence for the claim or thing. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:

The origin of a claim or thing is presented.
The claim is true(or false) or the thing is supported (or discredited).
It is clear that sort of "reasoning" is fallacious. For example: "Bill claims that 1+1=2. However, my parents brought me up to believe that 1+1=254, so Bill must be wrong."

It should be noted that there are some cases in which the origin of a claim is relevant to the truth or falsity of the claim. For example, a claim that comes from a reliable expert is likely to be true (provided it is in her area of expertise).

Examples of Genetic Fallacy

"The current Chancellor of Germany was in the Hitler Youth at age 3. With that sort of background, his so called 'reform' plan must be a facist program."
"I was brought up to believe in God, and my parents told me God exists, so He must."
"Sure, the media claims that Senator Bedfellow was taking kickbacks. But we all know about the media's credibility, don't we."
Getting back to an earlier question posed by Ban. Do you think that the Judges ruling and the activities outlined have not occurred? What are you saying?

Pat,

I sincerely do not know if those events occurred. I have seen no credible NEWS source reporting those things as facts. I requested such News reported facts from Berton and he apparently could find none. Instead he chose to attack and insult me by misusing some Latin phrases.

Pat, as with so many bits picked from the Right Wing Echo Chamber, the question is not "Did they occur?"
but "Did they occur as stated?"

Based on the reputation of the sources Ban used, it is reasonable to assume that the events occurred,
but not as his sources outlined it.

Powerline could take George Washington's quote:

Quote:

Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience.

And make George sound like a raving Socialist, if not an out and out Communist.

Quoting out of context can make any man say anything.

OK.

Upon further reflection and despite the laws, I'm of the opinion that in a situation where kids, little kids are involved, that the best interests of us all should be that they be with mom and dad. I also think that if some form of conspiracy is proven linking mom, dad, and human traffickers, that we should prosecute the parties involved. But the kids need to be in the hands of their parents or close relatives, not some faceless and possibly incompetent bureaucracy. Just my opinion.

The point of the article was that no prosecution of the parents was taking place because of Obama's immigration policies.
