For global warming believers, 2013 was the year from Hell; Almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the cause of global warming

"The sea ice in the Antarctic set a record, according to NASA, extending over a greater area than at any time since 1979 when satellite measurements first began. In the Arctic the news is also glum. Five years ago, Al Gore predicted that by 2013 “the entire North polar ice cap will be gone.” Didn’t happen. Instead, a deflated Gore saw the Arctic ice cap increase by 50% over 2012. This year’s Arctic ice likewise exceeded that of 2008, the year of his prediction. And that of 2009, 2010 and 2011."

True or false?

An absolute lie.

Gore said no such thing. In particular, he said nothing in such absolute terms.

The Truth:
Quote:

Predictably, the voices of denial are rising as Arctic sea ice melt season peaks and ranks only fifth-lowest ever. The clamor is being raised over Al Gore's Nobel Prize acceptance speech quote supposedly saying that Arctic sea ice would be gone by 2013. What Gore did or didn't say is beside the point: For the propagandists delivering this message, the objective is "cast doubt and discredit." From Gore's speech:

Quote:

Last September 21 (2007), as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is "falling off a cliff." One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years.

And yes, the deniers cannot even add. Not only did Gore not say "by 2013," but it would be 2014 at the soonest. ... On to reality:

The Navy researcher that leads this "new study" team that the former vice president alludes to is Wieslaw Maslowski at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. The team's research was funded by the Department of Energy (DOE), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Maslowski also did not say "by 2013" in his original research in 2007 or when it was republished in 2009. This grandstanding about sea ice and Gore, for whatever reason, is a huge and egregious deception. The actual prediction from Maslowski's 2009 publication is, "Autumn could become near ice free between 2011 and 2016."
LINK
So not only did Gore not say such a thing, neither did anyone else.

Nobody picked this year. in fact nobody picked any year. "Could" and "maybe" do not constitute a prediction. Consult a dictionary once in a while.

And quit making a fool of yourself by misquoting Gore. Gore is no scientist, just another layman. Only Deniers pay any attention to him - BTW, if you see his name in an article, you know it's written by somebody with a Right Wing agenda..

Your lies are getting tiresome, Bertie.

He didn't say it at his acceptance speech Child. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/dec/16/editorial-al-gore-soothsayer/

It is true. It happened in 2008. Shall we go to the next subject?

"Former Vice President Al Gore references computer modeling to suggest that the north polar ice cap may lose virtually all of its ice within the next seven years. “Some of the models suggest that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during some of the summer months, could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years,” says Gore."

Did you not hear what Brew just said? Gore is not a scientist. As a matter of fact he has contributed to turning a science into politics an done more harm than good in that respect.. Neither myself nor Brew give a rats ass what Gore says, just the same we don't give a rats ass what Watts says (except to down his BS, of course) We are interested in the facts, something you do obviously are not. If we were interested in politcal opinion then, we would follow Gore, just liek you follow Watts. Unfortunately for you, we are not interstted in the politcs, except to debunk them.. Science. Get it?

If you two are more interested in propaganda and quackery, that is your loss.

So now I've got two of you quoting the Right Wing Echo Chamber, which is circulating the same cherry picked out-of-context snippet from a non-scientist. I gave you the whole sentence, and you'd rather quote the snippet.

Do you two know what it's called when you know the truth, and say something else?

It's called LYING.

But it gets just plain silly when you're lying about what Gore said years ago.

As Telco pointed out, who gives a rat's ass about what a washed up politician says anyway? That's almost as bad as claiming a washed up TV weatherman's pronouncements matter.

Since neither telcoman or Brewster can show that Gore did not make that statement in 2008 to a German TV audience we shall show that one as true and go on to the next one.

"Weather between the poles has also conspired to make the global warming believers look bad. In December, U.S. weather stations reported over 2000 record cold and snow days. Almost 60% of the U.S. was covered in snow, twice as much as last year. The heavens even opened up in the Holy Land, where an awestruck citizenry saw 16 inches of snow fall in Jerusalem, almost three feet in its environs. Snow blanketed Cairo for the first time in more than 100 years."

True or false?

That's weather, not climate.
