I didn't see any million dollar combines. FYI they are expensive and some farmers lease them. |

Add on the sprayer attachments and other things and you can spend a million. |

Those are base prices, the same as saying that you can buy a new pickup for fifteen thousand! |

An average combine is not a million dollars even with the attachments. |

My cousins in Manitoba pay well over a million$. Mind you, they have a couple of the biggest farms with the richest soil in the world, producing nothing but Manitoba #1 Northern, the best wheat in the world, used only for fine pastries. So they're buying only the largest and finest. And their Combines come FULLY EQUIPPED. Gotta pay for those winter condos in the Caymans somehow... |

You will never convince Neut, one of his many attributes is being an expert on combine pricing! |

I think there may be some confusion here. Ban seemed to be talking abut growing sweet corn for human consumption. The OP seemed to be talking about growing field corn either as cattle feed or as a base for ethanol. The two types of production are in no way comparable. |

You're right, an "average" combine doesn't cost a million and I didn't say an average combine. But they upwards of a half million. |

I am interested in the conept of leasing combines. That is a concept, after spending 20 plus years on the farm and after following my sister and brother-in-law's farming for another 50 plus years, of which I have never heard. |

My BIL just explained the leasing to me and I still don't understand it. |
