It's a holiday created specifically for black people started in the 60's. They have created a whole tradition around it, including a menorah-like candelabra called a Kinara. You can, if you're interested, read about it on the link I provided.

The founder is a convicted felon and racist, he tortured women. It is based on nothing except his racism. Go to Africa and ask anyone, they know nothing of Kwanzaa because it is based on nothing
From another forum and the truth:

Kwanzaa is a fake holiday, made up in the 1960's by a black racist cult leader and convicted felon, who thought that blacks shouldn't celebrate a “white man's holiday”. He took some African-sounding words, and made up some principles that sounded good, and manufactured a “holiday” based thereon. This “holiday” has no connection to anything genuinely African. It's really nothing more than a celebration of the ego and racism of its creator.

OK, it sounds like a an Italian festival or St. Patrick's Day celebration.

Yes, I think that's about right. Neutral doesn't know what he's talking about. We traveled the entire country in our business doing preschool conventions and nearly all schools that are predominantly black celebrate this holiday. The principles they espouse are about family and responsibility. It's good because black families that are successful use the celebration to teach their kids about the principles. Don't know why Neutral is against such things.

Because he is Neutral? Maybe jealousy because his parents never attempted to teach him those principles?

I figure Colo's parents had to be a couple of the dumbest on Earth.
Kwanzaa is a made up holiday by a convicted man who tortured women, if blacks want to celebrate that then no problem. Most do NOT celebrate Kwanzaa and the ones who do probably don't even know how it started.

I had better quote this before Colo erases his attack on my parents.
