I don't know how many and it's a pipeline not a refinery.
I understand that crude is to be shipped over the pipe for 'refining' in Texas. Not so?
Yes but we already refine oil in TX. Nothing new just more oil.
And, more putrid air? Ever spend much time within 25 miles of the Shell refinery in Wood River Ill? Bad air.

Well we are not going to quit refining oil anytime soon.

Hows many long term jobs are we talking? How about the putrid air generated by the refinery?
I read an article yesterday, can't find it this morning that claimed a mere 35 long term jobs.

:teeth: Your state. You've been in Nebraska since noon yesterday and you're calling the cornhusker state "your state." :bounce:

There is so much oil in that state now a little more won't hurt.
Actually, I've been in Nebraska, off and on for seven years. It is my state. We don't need the pipeline because it will benefit neither the state nor the country and might cause great harm. What is it with you guys when you see that the pipeline will benefit only the Canadian Oil Companies and the Texas refineries and China, do you think it's a good idea to build this pipeline?
Yeah, but you still have that Georgia accent.

Actually, I just as soon have us produce our own oil that is in and around the Dakotas and forgo the pipeline. Probably cleaner oil.

All infrastructure job counts drop afterconstruction. I guess you disagreewith Obamas job plan too.

There's nothing wrong with temporary jobs, imo. Temporary jobs that create nothing but trouble are a waste. Obama's jobs program will create something valuable for the country. The pipeline does next to nothing except enrich the Canadian Oil Companies and the Texas refineries and the Chinese.

Not me. I don't talk like the rednecks in Georgia. Most people I meet can't believe I'm from the south.

I believe that a pipeline that extends from the north to the Texas refineries could be utilized to carry oil domestically were the Canadian oil found to be a source of pollution. Which it most likely is. I'm failing to see where our country gains in all of this. We would be allowing the world's most polluting oil to cross environmental sensitive lands and populations, for the benefit of Canada and foreign users.
