What's really dumb IMO is a system that allows a country to go from one budget crisis to another budget crisis... every six month. Edited by jackd, Mar 2 2013, 04:08 AM.

All of this comes from two differing views on taxes and spending. One side wants to avoid increase in taxes, the other side wants to increase taxes. One side wants to to avoid spending cuts, the other side wants to cut spending. One side has power in the senate, one side in the house. And the president sides with the senate and won't agree to a bill put forth from the house. The classic stalemate, however since politics are involved, they keep jockeying. I see the same thing in BC. The same dynamics and politicizing of issues. |

I'm surprised that the poll wasn't higher than 60% after the president's nationwide "blitzkrieg" campaign of looming disaster. One has to wonder what might have been acomplished if he sat down with both parties, both houses and hammered out a solution to problem #1. |

Canadians on this forum have often commented on the difference between the "chasm" that lies between the major parties (and their followers) of Canada and the U.S.. the difference between the width and depth of those two chasms. How do you see Obama's recent campaign of "doom" and his campaign of "blame" as making our chasm depth more shallow and it's width more narrow? Efforts toward unity? It grows more deep and more wide as weeks go by. Perhaps he's right about one thing... the coming "doom." It'll be on his watch. History won't be looking at the Congress. It will be, "who was President... the leader during those times?" He seems only interested in one thing.... his agenda. His rhetoric is the means to that end. ... no discussion necessary. Unfortunatly, IMO, Canada has been heading in the same general direction since Harper too over. Sad, but true. Harper was for the first time in Canadian history the first and the only prime minister to even been found in contempt of parliament for knoingly lying and hiding information to opposition members As with the Rep. in the U.S., it is Harper's way or no way in Canada.. |
