I've worn a 24 hr 30 day heart monitor twice in the past 2 years. I have A-fib about 40% of the time and Ventricular tachycardia 60%. I am now take 100 mg of Flecinaid (sp) twice a day and an occasional metoprolol if the tachycardia acts up....which it hasn't now in the past 2 years. I recall Thumper that you had A-fib problems a few years ago, sorry it has happened again. |

Same thing has happened to me in the past. For no reason I could feel my heart racing and would almost pass out. My doctor had me wear a cardiac monitor for a few days but my ticker never acted up while wearing it. It has been almost five years since my last episode, and I take no heart medication. |

Hi everybody, what I have is A fib. last episode was about 5 years ago here in Florida also. I have history with it back to a heat stroke in 1982. The pulse rate before the cardioversion was about normal but with irregularity and on occasion it was like a quivering mass of jello. I am on two new meds now ($$$$), one a blood thinner and the other to regulate the rythm. This doctor here wants me to have the Cardiac Ablation procedure done. Kind of scary tho. I asked about a pacemaker and he said it doesn't apply in my case.

My late mother had A-Fib. Because it makes you more prone to clots, they usually put you on blood thinners. She made it to 87 with it. I used to take her in periodically for the prothombin time (clotting), and then adjust the coumadin accordingly. I'm on metoprolol daily for BP and stabilizing the ticker beats. If your accustomed to aerobic athletic indeavors it slows you down, the ticker just won't rev up. |
