Went to Disney a couple of days ago and rode the "Mission Space". This is a motion based simulator for a trip from lift off to a landing on Mars. I got off the thing feeling rotten and it only pulled about 2.5 Gs (centrifuge). Went to Celibration Hospital and found the ticker out of timing. Stayed there a couple of days and got the shock treatment. All back in rythym now. There goes my pilots license again! We want to go back home but the weather is lousey in Missouri with ice and snow. This Celibration Hospital is something else. It is like a 5 star hotel. Unbelievible. Even has valet parking at the Emergency Room. Owned by the "Adventists" of all things. |

I knew that mouse was dangerous! Seriously, glad they sorted it all out, but it's too bad about the licence. I know it's a big thing for you. |

Thumper, did they tell you what the problem was? atrial-fibrillation,...... supraventricualr tachycardia?? I had both at different times in my life. Both are "electrical" problems, that can cause negative results to an otherwise very health heart. Years ago (about age 60) I had an episode of tachycardia (a very fast but regular heart beat). I could feel a "fluttering" type beating and felt super weak ... very sudden. I was home alone and drove myself to the ER. They first tried the "Valsalva (type) maneuver," which you can do yourself... that didn't work; so they gave me a drug called adenosine intravenously which put my heart back on rhythm. It happened briefly a few times after that but stopped on its own after about 60 seconds. I take atenolol for that which has worked for me. Atenolol is a drug that you don't want to start or stop without medical supervision. In the past two years I've also had two A-Fib (atrial fibrillation- a fast but irregular heartbeat) episodes. Both times after it started it stopped on it's own (after about 10 days). I had all the stress tests, ultrasounds, scans, etc; the cardiolgist said I had a strong heart, but again an "electrical problem" which could lead to a stroke. So, for that I take Warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thiner. So now I have a slow heart rate (50/min) and thin blood. ![]() I guess what I'm saying is that, I feel great otherwise.... both can be managed via good medical following. When I was sent to the emergency room from an ordinary heart stress test, and ended up with two stints in the ticker, my heart would not slow down. I take Metapropolol (sp) twice a day to regulate the beat. The event that nearly senjt me to the hospital in cardiac arrest was when we decided to invite all the grandkids and family on a five day excursion at Disneyland, and I received the American Express bill. I know how they came up with the Pirates of Caribbean, Disney and company are first rate pirates and know all about plundering. |
