I've been hearing criticism or Argo, Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty for historical inaccuracies. And, not just nitpicky things either. Some people don't care, I do. I also think they should be labeled fiction, but based on a true story. I haven't seen any of them, and may not. My sister saw Lincoln and was quite impressed. I watched the PBS documentary on Lincoln and liked it. I would rather hear respected historians commenting on the facts than watch drama.
I have no issue with fiction. What concerns me is that inaccurate portrayals be become de facto historical fact a couple of hundred years form now once no one who was on site is there to confirm facts. I suspect a decodable DVD may be more likely to outlast paper, dug up by future archaeologists.
