Yup, they've managed to teleport stuff.

Unfortunately, so far it's only atomic bits over tiny distances, but like you say, maybe with time...

I think we are of cusp of energy breakthrough. The problem is the fossil fuel folks have a huge amount of political clout to ensure we are held hostage by them.

Yup, they won't give up without a fight, and they've got the bucks to do it.

I don't see it as a fight but rather a common sense use of available resources. In time we will have materials that don't require lubrication, more green energy than we can use, and oil will be relagated to the history books along with coal and natural gas. We are in a transitory state so naturally the current buggy whip makers have their shorts in a twist.

Parabolic Dish System, or trough system reminds me when, as kids, we used a magnifying glass start a fire, concentrating the suns rays to a smallest point possible.

The Astronautics Division of my company built a "Heliostat" farm in Arizona in the late 70s. It was abandoned because of economics. As I recall, the parabolic mirrors were expensive to make/maintain along with the sun tracking drive systems. All the energy in the world isn't going to solve the water shortage.

Clean energy will, Thump.

Wind and Solar use little or no water, and reducing Global Warming reduces droughts.

That's what it's all about.

Not in the desert Brew unless you are talking about high tension transmission lines to population centers.
