According to Neut and Bertie's thinking, if baking a for 40 minutes makes it a nicer brown than 30 minutes, baking it for 80 minutes will make it twice as good.

Because that would make no sense. I don't think you understand the monetary physics being urilized in Australia so do you understand the results? |

Does the cost of the product these workers are making going to go up or not? My answer is if production goes up then the cost of the product will not go up but if production does not increase then the cost must go up and to the same extent as the wages go up. In other words the cost of living goes up as fast as the base cost of labor goes up. What is wrong with my understanding? http://www.minimumwage.com/ |

Your assuming profit is fixed. When costs increase (ie; increase in minimum wage), the operator can either take less profit or increase the price of the goods. It doesn't affect competitiveness because his competition is affected by the same minimum wage standard. |

When profit is only pennies on the dollar then what happens?(try reading the link) Does the cost of living go up for everyone when the cost of making products goes up or not? When the cost of the base salary for everyone goes up does the salary for the rest not follow if not immediately then soon after? |

Of course it does, Bertrude, what's your point? That happens anytime any cost goes up. Would you rather pay a living wage and let everybody pay for their own needs or pay some workers too little to survive on and pay them through taxation on the rest of us? We pay regardless of the method. |

Mountgirl, If the cost of products go up then all you are doing is going in a circle. minim wage goes up = cost of living goes up = minim wage goes up = cost of living goes up..... What is the point of it all except to make those living on a fixed income dependent on the government? Edited by Berton, Feb 23 2013, 10:58 PM.

You obviously don't understand economics, nor do you understand human motivation. Keep making these stupid arguments, though, it makes you look even more of a fool. |

So Berton would you object to paying $1.10 for those McDonalds item now selling for $1? Would that put a real big dent in you budget? I've posted the average profit from a McD's franchise elswhere here, throwing a few extra $$ to their employees won't break them. It's all about greed, and taking advantage of others. Some seem to think that is the american way. |
