Methane

More Methane

This is the stuff of SciFi, yet we're seeing the first signs of this happening.

Good bits, Corky.

This is one of the scariest feedbacks we face.

Many Deniers look at the present temp and sea level rise, and try to claim that at present rates it will be a long time until we reach the extraorinarily dangerous point.

But the reality is that Methane will multiply the effects many times, and the pace will quicken soon.

Another one that's also very dangerous is the melting of the Arctic Ocean. As the Sun begins to warm open sea water instead of bouncing off ice, temps will jump significantly, and Greenland ice will melt away much faster, drivng sea level rise.

Meanwhile the usual suspects congratulate themselves on increasing oil and gas production as if there were no repercussions... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Step functions are always so much fun to deal with!!!!

Discovery Channel had one show on the ignition of a methane cloud off the coast, worth looking at just for the "what-if".

I don't think you'd adore turning Earth into Venus, Pat.

Even if we only got partway there.

Only true if there were no way to change it.

It doesn't change a thing. There is. No consensus or will to take all the steps required. We event past the failsafe point. This like other issues have been farmed out to the future generations. It's the legacy of our self centered dependent generation.

I will accept that there is no political will to change things at the moment.

And that's what must be worked on.

The rest of your post is pure BS, a defeatist attitude that betrays your "can do" words on virtually every other subject.

Its not a priority of mine Brew. I would move it up the list once a political will existed worldwide to make some logical changes. Charging wind mills is not on my list.
