Just for clarification I put in the two words in bold:

As to Europe spending more on NATO, imo there are two choices for Europe: either you`re a member, then pay your fair share.....or you don`t want to spend more - then leave NATO.

I understood what you were saying, it's just that I've felt that way for quite a while, about the majority of the monies for NATO and UN "skirmishes," having fallen heavily on the "rich USA" .... the six decades worth of "protecting/building/aiding." I think the article quoting Penetta shows the frustration Americans are having with all the "foreign expense." We can't afford it anymore. One thing I agree with that President Obama said in the last debate, "we need to spend more of our time, more of our efforts, more of our money on our own nation building," and I would include continually building our military the in manner that Ron Paul suggested ..... I just don't know if Obama knows how to do it. JMHO

I understand your sentiments and I share them. Take care of yourself first and reduce your spending outside the US.
