Nor, could Romney airbrush away his prior statements on which he is now flip flopping. This is not to say Romney did not try. |

ROMNEY: Said that when he was Massachusetts governor, high-school students who graduated in the top quarter "got a four-year, tuition-free ride at any Massachusetts public institution of higher learning." OBAMA: "That happened before you came into office." ROMNEY: "That was actually mine, actually, Mr. President. You got that fact wrong." THE FACTS: Romney was right. The John and Abigail Adams scholarship program began in 2004 when he was governor. AP |

I thought that both families and candidates were very cordial and respectful on stage. The term civil comes to mind. I like that, because in two weeks we will all be Americans. |

I've labeled him the flip flopper in chief months ago. It got him nominated and he knew he was going to have to listen while it was thrown back in his face. The jobs and economy are his assets,a hard combo for Obama to overcome despite the flip flopping. |

I actually hate it, they are enemies and all that cordial crap was for show. If you have a friend, be a friend always, if you have an enemy, you are not required to be cordial. |

Pat, Nice sentiment, but it didn't happen last election and I don't see it happening this time if Romney loses.

Fact-Check: The Case of China and Cheap Tires President Obama again brings up the tire case, saying that China was flooding the United with cheap tires and he put a stop to it and saved jobs. But in fact, many economists criticize the administration’s action. In 2009, the Obama administration unilaterally imposed a duty on imports of Chinese tires — a move sought by the United Steelworkers union. It was one of nine trade enforcement actions taken by the United States against China under President Obama and, some economists argue, the most questionable. The tariff protected 1,200 American jobs, at most, according to a study by Gary Hufbauer of the Peterson Institute for International Economics. But the same study found that the tariff cost American consumers $1.1 billion last year alone in higher-priced tires — or about $900,000 per job. Moreover, China responded by slapping tariffs on imports of American chicken parts that cost American poultry producers an estimated $1 billion in lost sales. Last month, the Obama administration let the tire tariff quietly expire. Critics argue that is because it was a lose-lose scenario for the United States. NYT Edited by Berton, Oct 23 2012, 11:19 AM.

I keep remembering studying how the American people saw through and rejected the demagoguery of William Jenning Bryan. I think Americans are just as perceptive today as they were then. They will reject the demagoguery of Mitt Romney.

Romney knew he was lying but let it slide. He was playing to hold onto the lead which he did. |
