The old lady in the picture has her hands at 10:00 and 2:00 and is watching the road intently, probably a rigid conservative who has never driven any other way her whole life. I just smile and let her pass by as someone who is taking what she is doing very seriously.

What does scare me though is seeing someone making a turn at the busy Mall intersection traffic light with a cell phone to their left ear and cigarette between the index and middle fingers of the right hand (or dangling from their lips) and talking up a storm as if doing so was an "entitlement," which strongly suggests to you right away that it is probably social liberal. Now that person I sometimes feel like just dropping the stick into "ramming gear" and give them a T-bone just to get their attention... while realizing that doing that probably wouldn't stop their conversation.

She looks more like a conservative to me, staring straight ahead as if there's nothing else going on.

The troubling thing about this whole back and forth is that someone inclined to right wing thinking is projecting his biases without any evidence. Talking on the cellphone irresponsibly, smoking, distracted, inconsiderate..............must be one of those evil liberal, socialists feeding off entitlements. The simplicity of the train of thought is frighteningly familiar, and smacks of those who prefer bias confirmation to reality.
