We can and will pay our debt. But, first we have to quit fretting over protecting the incomes of the wealthy from taxes. Jack it right up to post WWII levels, and that will make progress.

We're at the point where people working hard at keeping up with the latest ball game scores and adding as many beer cans to the recycle barrel as they can, can vote themselves a bigger couch, a bigger TV and more beer, at the expense of that little girl's future.
Wasn't it you, stoney, who told me how the Iroquois made decisions with concern to consequences 7 generations out? I wish I could take credit. I do remember something about that.

"Tax the rich" would be a drop in the bucket that politicians and liberals would rationalize to be the end all solution and would forget about spending cuts. I know that from history.
We need tax reform. But first we need to tackle out of control spending. Every dollar invested in US debt is a dollar not invested in private sector growth, not invested in jobs and prosperity.

In all of your deliberations in the Confederate Council, in your efforts at law making, in all your official acts, self interest shall be cast into oblivion. Cast not over your shoulder behind you the warnings of the nephews and nieces should they chide you for any error or wrong you may do, but return to the way of the Great Law which is just and right. Look and listen for the welfare of the whole people and have always in view not only the present but also the coming generations, even those whose faces are yet beneath the surface of the ground – the unborn of the future Nation.

So why is it that you righties are all for protecting the future generations in an economic sense, but not in an environmental sense. And, why aren't you in favor of "looking and listening" for the welfare of the "whole" people? That quote also mentions the present, but it seems all your arguments center on the future.

Really. Are you too young to remember when Reagen cut taxes, and then when the deficit rose raised them again to fix the problem? The old raising taxes on the wealthy won't help is baloney. They are the primary source of federal revenue. It was a mistake to lower their taxes in the Bush era.

Can you demonstrate factually that your inference is correct? I think not.
"And, why aren't you in favor of "looking and listening" for the welfare of the "whole" people? That quote also mentions the present, but it seems all your arguments center on the future."
Again, your assumption is untrue and unsupportable.

They are the primary source of federal revenue. It was a mistake to lower their taxes in the Bush era. I'd like to think so, but unfortunately not. You're stuck on trashing a conservative. I'm stuck on trying to recognize and find reasonable solutions to our problems. And you still have avoided my points.
