Ban,

Based on past behavior I don't believe that there is a politican who believes that he would be elected if he told the American public the truth. I would like to believe that we are smart enough to listen to the truth but since re-election is the first and foremost goal of a politican no one, running for a major office, has been willing to broach the subject.
Um! Think what it might be like if we were asked to endure the austere policies that have been placed on the Greeks by the EU if politicians here fear voting for SS benefits to be raised a couple years. Maybe when you said "we aren't the Greeks," and I thought you meant we "aren't that weak," you really meant that we don't have the pain tolerance of even that of the Greeks. Politicians, to keep their seats, have to understand the tolerance of their constituents. They don't seem to think that our tolerance to "pain" or even inconvience is too great. I'm just saying.

As evidenced by their re-election time after time.

Looks like Stoney has folded on this on.
It seems that's what the righties do when challenged. They complain that no one will discuss with them and when someone agrees to discuss it, they become mute.
Remember...i'm a rightie...and I WILL discuss anything. Ask Brewster, for one. And, i've discussed with you, too. Not all righties as you put it are stone set in their beliefs on everything. I'm only stone set in my beliefs in my religion as it applies to myself. That would be the only thing I wouldn't argue about, nor would I condemn anyone else for having.

Thanks, though, for not including me in your "righties" comment.....lol
You're kinda of hard to compartmentalize, Tim
Well, that's because i'm different than most people.

Someone told me one time, in one word, tell me about yourself.

I said, "I'm not into following rules."....lol

If you deny that we have a spending problem then there's nothing to discuss.

Spending deniers.

I haven't seen anyone on the left arguing that we didn't have a spending problem. Are you looking for an excuse not to discuss this?
