Pain tolerance in Greece appears very low. They demonstrate and riot because of the austere measures they must face brought on by growing financial illness.

Quote:

The austerity measures wrought from Greece are widely disliked among the population and will put pressure on its politicians who must contest an election in April.

Further street unrest could test politicians' commitment to cuts in wages, pensions and jobs. Greece's two biggest labor unions called a protest in Athens on Wednesday.

But, like it or not, bailout with conditions or not, they are going to feel the pain:

Eurozone bailout will not end Greece's pain.

A nation just doesn't get that financially off track without eventual accountability. No nation. Greece's pain will also be felt in the other EU nations. There is much scepticism as to whether the bailouts will work. People won't tolerate the pain they allowed themselves to be set up for. But it's coming anyway. The EU's pain will be felt in the US as we aren't financially sound ourselves. We can borrow and print money for only so long.

What is our pain tolerance? Is it equal to that of the 30s and 40s? We've been through our share of tough times. But I really shouldn't say WE. Our nation has been though some tough times. That was by our grandfathers and fathers (and their women). They stood the pain. I'm not so sure that we now are any more pain tolerant than the Greeks. But it's coming, probably for our children and grandchildren. We should be so proud.

This is no longer our Father's Country. But we aren't the Greeks either. So, who knows?

This isn't our father's country anymore. Our measure is yet to be tested. But as with the son, who took the business his father built and ran it into the ground, we may be about to find out.

I hope not. As far as the son running the business, it has been my experience it is the grandson that generally trashes the business. But I digress. Living in the Ozark hills I find most of the kids are pretty much like you and I growing up in Penna. Most seem to care about the country and are hard workers. I wish for the best since I have 10 grandkids. They all are outdoors types and are shooters for what that is worth.

Doom and gloom will erupt if we don't manage our finances.

I can provide an answer to someone interested in civil, reasoned discussion.
