If you can't kill the Constitution, then other ways must be found to stop free speech.

Soros-funded Media Matters memo called for investigating Fox employees

Quote:

March, the George Soros-funded Media Matters for America declared what Politico called an "all-out campaign" of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox News.

In an expose at the Daily Caller, Tucker Carlson wrote that in 2009, Karl Frisch suggested hiring "private investigators to look into the personal lives of Fox News anchors, hosts, reporters, prominent contributors, senior network and corporate staff" in a memo emailed to Media Matters founder David Brock and president Eric Burns.

According to Carlson:

"Simply put," Frisch wrote, 'the progressive movement is in need of an enemy. George W. Bush is gone. We really don’t have John McCain to kick around any more. Filling the lack of leadership on the right, Fox News has emerged as the central enemy and antagonist of the Obama administration, our Congressional majorities and the progressive movement as a whole."

"We must take Fox News head-on in a well funded, presidential-style campaign to discredit and embarrass the network, making it illegitimate in the eyes of news consumers."

Media Matters for America: A media critic or political operation?

Quote:

CHICAGO, February 19, 2012—Media Matters for America received a broadside hit last week from The Daily Caller.

The Daily Caller ran a series of reports using information gleaned from various sources close to Media Matters their own research, and a Media Matters memo.

The 89-page 2009 Media Matters memo outlines a campaign to destroy Fox News, Republican politicians, and conservative pundits. The 2009 memo also contains a list of enemies to be targeted for political destruction.

I read both the link you posted, and the link they posted, and nowhere did I see any evidence beyond a few out of context quotes.

It's just more right wing paranoia.

Of course, everyone knows Media Matters checks the facts behind right wing media sites. They state that proudly on their front page. And of course that means that they "Pick On" fact-free FAUX News more than most.

But to claim that they actually have some grand plan to destroy anyone with no real evidence is a stretch.

Are you saying that there is no truth to the two articles?

I'm saying that there's no evidence of truth or otherwise.

Based on what's presented, there is no reason to believe them, and paranoia is the best explanation.

"The Daily Caller portrays Media Maters as a propaganda operation disguised as a media watch dog. The perception is one of political operatives masquerading as journalists, butchers performing thoracic surgery. "

I would say that's a pretty good description of The Daily Caller and Fox News.

Well, the "paranoia" is starting to spread to some everyday, ordinary newsmedia:

We are referring to Media Matters for America, a group that enjoys tax-exempt status. Internal documents show that executives at the group considered hiring private investigators to look into the private lives of Fox News hosts, commentators and executives.

According to an internally circulated memo sent out by senior fellow Karl Frisch in 2009, Media Matters characterized Fox News as "the central enemy and antagonist of the Obama administration, our Congressional majorities and the progressive movement as a whole," adding that "We must take Fox News head-on in a well funded, presidential–style campaign to discredit and embarrass the network, making it illegitimate in the eyes of consumers."

From the sound of it, Media Matters more closely resembles an attack dog than a watch dog.

Mr. Frisch and company can dream all they want in trying to make Fox News illegitimate, but it’s nothing more than a dream.

There's a reason that Fox News is the No. 1 rated news service in the country.

Of course, you won't see much on this from Fox's competitors (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBC), not when your news ratings are on the suck side.

Fox News is the AKC champion of attack dogs. No one needs to make Fox News illegitimate, it's doing well on its own. The reason Fox is number one is that they have managed to brain-wash a large portion of the far right wing groupies, who can't distinguish between fact and innuendo.

So, after I point out that the site you linked had nothing but out of context quotes, without a single solid piece of evidence (but a whole lot of innuendo, I should have added), you back it up with another article with even less evidence?

Ban, I strongly suspect that you could find dozens more. It's called "The Right Wing Echo Chamber" - one guy posts an anti-left piece, and regardless of its accuracy, within hours it's echoed through every right wing blog on the Internet.

So, apparently you are saying (I asked before) that there is no truth to what the articles are saying. That you doubt that any evidence exists, that Tucker Carlson is lying about what Frisch wrote?

And of course you have uddles of evidence that FOX has a large portion of America brainwashed.

And you would believe a media like Media Matters, which is another large organization that "cheats" and doesn't pay it's "fair share of taxes" (in fact no taxes, they use public funds, like PBS) to support the very "poor" people it tries to make everyone believe it represents.... you buy that trash... who's the brainwashed?
