Rivers brought up Liechtenstein and that reminded me H.S.H. Prince Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein, wrote a book not too long ago, The State in the Third Millennium. Here he is being interviewed on his ideas about government. The blurb with the video reads "From his perspective as a ruling monarch, Prince Hans-Adam affirms the centrality of democracy in the modern nation-state and makes the case for limited government: "[The United States and Europe] have to free the state from all the unnecessary tasks and burdens with which it has been loaded during the last hundred years, which have distracted it from its two main tasks: maintenance of the rule of law and foreign policy."" To give you an idea what he means, about 6 minutes in he says his ideas are similar to Tea Party. |

An unimpressive interview IMO. The interviewer asked if he would accept being compared to the Tea Party, and looking a little embarrassed he said ok. Produce by the Hoover Institute a Conservative and Libertarian support organization. My, my who would have guessed. We all know what Hoover's policies did for us in 1929. This is something NPR would run to avoid being accussed of being left wing biased.

I`m very biased regarding Liechtenstein. That - even to European measures - tiny state was home of all the money from tax-evaders from all over Europe, maybe even from overseas. So frankly, I don`t trust a man who supports the stealing of (tax)money from other states.

Tax evasion is theft? How is not giving something taking something? You see no doublespeak in that? |

Chris, you remember that we have a very different take on taxes? So, I beg your pardon, but I`m not going into a discussion about taxes...

I watched all 34 minutes of it. It was pretty unimpressive. If the conservatives/libertarians are looking for someone to reinforce their ideology they could have found a much better candidate. |
