"I have looked into it Chris. The rebate is for the really poor people. Middle income folks will pay more tax under the fair tax plan. It stands to reason, that if the rich pay less, the less rich will pay more. Unless you're the federal reserve, you can't just create that money out of thin air."

See "The FairTax is regressive and shifts the tax burden onto lower and middle income people". Thought you'd looked into it.
You quote the Fair Tax website as if they have a clue what they're talking about. Since we have never had an "un-fair tax" like you propose, how can they make all those supposedly concrete statements about what the results would be? I've looked into this subject from both sides and I think that the "fair tax" is wishful thinking for those who think that they should pay less and the rest of us should pay more. Instead of just accepting the word of the proponents of the fair tax, look at what the treasury has to say about it. I suspect they have a better handle on the outcome of instituting that kind of system.
Because that's the Fair Tax I support. I'm referring to the Fair Tax put forth by Boortz and Linder, and the Fair Tax Act of 2007.

What fair tax are you referring to?
