So. They were lies then?
Don't have time to look. I am taking a friend for medical tests.

I am one of those people who choose not to live my life in a state of fear & paranoia. I doubt that I would own a gun even if I lived in the US. I avoid trouble areas as much as possible (except i like to travel to them) and if someone pulled a gun on me I very much doubt I would be able to react in time. I have actually been at the barrel end of a gun twice in my life. In both cases my words & actions were my best defense. In neither case would I have been able to get to a weapon had I had one. I've made it to 63, unarmed so far.

However i have nothing against those (law abiding) who feel they need to be armed as long as they keep them away from kids.

Doing some quick research, this move could actually create more restrictions on firearms. The types of guns restricted is partially a function of the RCMP. If they don't know who legally owns certain types of guns, like assault rifles, they will likely move to tighten the rules restricting them.

I don't think any law abiding gun owners should object to having his guns registered. The problem was more a function of the paperwork & charges to do so. They probably should have streamlined that more instead.

Why do you assume other own guns for such a motivation as that?

Oh, but the gun nuts in the US fear that if the government has them registered they know where they are and can come get them. Now, there's no indication that most US citizens have any desire to take away anyone's guns, but that doesn't seem to matter. And those guys think that they can take on our military with a few handguns and rifles. I wish they'd try it. It would weed out the some of the paranoia.

Unless you are into target practice then why own one otherwise?

Protect property. But it's not out of fear or paranoia. It's my right under the US Constitution. Just another form of insurance.
