Come on Joe, I don't have to drive a car, get married or own a vehicle that needs inspected. I can choose not to. The healthcare bill does not give me a choice to not carry health insurance. It's an invasion of my privacy and right to live absent unnecessary encroachment on my freedom to choose. Women have a right to choose how they use their body, why can't I. It's my body, my choice whether I want to have access to modern healthcare, a witch doctor in the wilds, unconventional alternative medicine not covered under the bill or homeopathic self treatment. It's nobodies business but my own.
Come on Pat.................you are kidding right? Most cities besides NY do not have a decent public transportation system. You are funny!

Too bad what ought to be an interesting question has been crowded by Joe.

I voted government. Some seem to believe that will also be siding with the people, but only in the sense of an imaginary abstract common good that's good for no one in particular.

I think Par intended instead by liberty individual liberty, and government never does that, it would be antithetical to the nature of government.

Assessing the court is guess we'll see Robert's manage a consensus on a very narrow decision that will in effect decide little.

The showdown will come when federal law conflicts with state Constitutions like in Ohio where the people amended it against the individual mandate.

You were right Chis, I did mean individual liberty.

Regarding states, right now 26 state oppose all of the new law. All of it. In the feds interest to overrun individual and states rights, we know damn well that there are costs that will be forced on states that will just not be handled from the federal treasury. /we see this glaring omission in the immigration enforcement arena.

Joe,

It's a choice whether one chooses to live in a city without adequate public transportation or not.

Your queston is like "answer yes or no do you still beat your wife?" Personlly I believe that mandated health care will not infringe on my liberty.

How do you feel about the draft Pat? Should it be outlawed in all cases since it takes away personal choice and freedom? Paying for health care is much less intrusive then getting blown apart.

What is your stand on jury duty? If you register to vote (a corner stone of freedom) you can be called and you must appear.

Are you aware that in California, and I suspect in many other states, that if you are over 18 and not on active duty in the military it is a crime if you do not assist a police officer when he demands that you do so. You do not have the personal liberty right to refuse.

"Do you believe the court will side with liberty or the government?" is not a loaded question.

Your analogies though reveals a misunderstanding of liberty as merely personal choice and freedom, the way a teenager might view it, when liberty is actually more a responsibility.

As Edmund Burke said. "But what is liberty without wisdom, and without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without tuition or restraint."

And what is virtue but self-constraint? Only a free people can be moral, only a moral people can be free.

Your analogies also fail because they involve self-restraint and sacrifice to protect liberty. Obamacare's individual mandate takes away the self-responsibility of liberty.
