So is Joe Paterno a child molester? I remember Sarah and the republicans claiming Obama was a terrorist because he served on a local board with Ayers. I would think this is even a less of a stretch since Paterno knew this was a current situation and allowed it to continue. His inaction and not calling the police allowed this to continue Just using the republican logic............... |

We'll never know the answer to your question Joe. The education community has their own good old boys way of handling complaints and the police are kept out of the loop. Look at the number of cases in the news involving teachers and students. |

Hummmm guilty by association. Wonder what the relationship between Joe and number one fan Miller is? |

The obvious answer to the question is "no.' Paterno did exactly what the law required. It was the AD who dropped the ball and he has been fired, arrested, and charged. |

BTW, it is my understanding that Paterno was investigated by the police concerning involvement/non-involvement and was found to be free of any wrongdoing. I think the term used was "exonerated." |

Your point is made Colo but you refuse to address the fact that he never followed up to see what was happening to the report he filed with the AD. Apparently, he was not curious enough or interested enough to be proactive on behalf of the ten year old. Is this how you would have handled it? |

I tend to think that, if I had been in Paterno'sposition, I would have assumed that the AD was doing his job and that I should do mine. After all, the "chain of command' is something drummed into athletes from the beginning of little league through the professional ranks. I understand that Paterno was very disappointed to find that his superior had failed him and the community. I would have been just as disappointed had I been let down by one of my superior adminstrators. Not being ensconced in cultlure of athletics, I probably would have followed up by asking what was going on. But then, I have often questioned authority, an attitude not consistent with team athletics. |

I can't find fault with you logic or how you would have handled it Colo. I too would have followed up with the AD or counselor, or whomever I had reported to. I probably would have gone one step further though. I would have called the cops right after reporting it to the counselor or AD. The cops generally keep their sources and witnesses private. I have a paid subscription to a college sports forum. This has been a running thread since yesterday. 95% feel Joe should be fired and should have called the cops. |

I fail to see what purpose is served in trying to crucify Paterno. He fulfilled his responsibility. |

Many resent Joe for all of his success at Penn State. I think Pat is another one. |
