Poll: For economy fix, Americans pick Reagan over Roosevelt
The Daily Caller

Ronald Reagan beat out Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the former president Americans would like to see in the White House during these trying economic times, a new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll finds.

Thirty-six percent of those polled said they wanted the Gipper to lead America out of the economic crisis, while 29 percent picked Roosevelt. Thomas Jefferson came in third place with the support of 14 percent of those polled, followed by Roosevelt’s successor Harry Truman at 8 percent. William Henry Harrison, who was inaugurated in March 1841 and died one month later, came in last with 1 percent support.

Reagan was the pick of 68 percent of Republicans, 16 percent of Democrats and 34 percent of independents surveyed. Sixteen percent of Republicans, 43 percent of Democrats and 26 percent of independents chose Roosevelt.

The poll also found that 68 percent of Americans think Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would make the best Democratic vice presidential candidate if Joe Biden doesn’t remain on the ticket next year. When asked what words they thought of when the heard the name Marco Rubio, 25 percent said “U.S. Senator” while 14 percent said “Major League Baseball player” and 7 percent said “Cuban musician.”

The poll was conducted September 28 and October 2 among 1,012 American adults

While Reagan did have charisma and conviction, his supply side economics ideology was the beginning of the downhill slide for the american worker. At least he had sense enough to go along with tax increases when his tax cuts ballooned the deficit.

Finding just over 1000 adults who could make up the sampling must have been tough. You would need to have lived through the various presidencies or been a learned scholar of 20th century American history to have understood the differences in how these past administrations governed.

Reagan having been the most recent president in memory to those being questioned would be the logical choice, since my assumption is that most if not all those queried would know very little about the previous president's to have made any kind of informed choice.

In other words, I don't see any value in the poll, and believe it was probably the expected results of those doing the polling.

Did the pollsters have an underlying goal here or if not, what was the real intent? Certainly it could not have been a history exam in which they were trying to ascertain how many random Americans knew their 20th century political history.

Why would miller put any credence in the poll? American voters after all voted for Obama.

I don't think Jim gives much thought before posting some of his anti Obama messages Thumper. If he had, I doubt this thread would exist.

I agree Mike. I love my country, even with Obama at the helm.

Did you ever wonder, Mike, why the bawl babies around here don't post any pro-Obama messages? Stalking/leg humping is the best they can do with what there is to work with.

In reality Jim, I pay very little attention to the leg humping angst you and a few others wallow in. I'm here to discuss the threads, not get caught up in silly and immature behavior.

Back to the thread...

Do you find any value at all in the poll Jim?

Which is why this place is occupied mainly by stalkers and leg humpers. And favored garbage mouths.

I think Jim, what has occurred in your case, is some members have come to the conclusion that most of your interest and posting is a form of humping the leg of our President. And their one line responses to your threads reflect that.

If you were to stop for a second when reading a poll or article from some of your sources, and think what the motivation of the writer or pollster is, you might not post some of the articles and articles for discussion. The media is full of bias and some is more outlandish than others. I think some of your posts do in fact deserve further exploration, such as the healthcare bill or bailout questions. Or leadership questions. But unfortunately we now have a situation where nobody is taking you seriously.

It's up to you to change that perception if you so desire.

And I might add, some others here have a similar situation going on.
