I call a spade a spade, Chris. Your country seems to have more than its share of wing nuts, that is for sure.
More ad hom. Just can't help yourself. Pure emotionalism.

Jim,
Also NOT your business, you don't live in Texas, as I recall!

Nice ad gimmick, market will punish the business if it is wrong and the market has many buyers in the restricted class.

:smoker:
The state has taken the power from the market in this case, Corky, through licensing, you know, like guilds you used to argue against.

What happens in my country is my business. I guess that is a pretty confusing concept for you, Corky.

Jim,
Guess you DID NOT read, the state of Texas is conducting the investigation, do you live there, if not, BUTT OUT of the affairs of Texans! You shouldn't leave nose prints on the windows of others, as you have told us many times.

Chris,

All the man has to do is quit the guild and he's free to do as he choses as far as train people is concerned. Join the guild and you agree to follow guild rules, certification has value, but you agree to follow the rules to get certified, his choice. The man can still market his training, just without the certification of the state if he doesn't like the rules.

Jim's welcome to offer opinions on Texas.

"All the man has to do is quit the guild and he's free to do as he choses as far as train people is concerned."

No he is not free to teach unless licensed by the state, were he to teach without it he'd be arrested, incarcerated, fined and punished by the state. That's not freedom, it's coercion. The liberal (and social con) view always turns the world topsy turvy with doublespeak, war is peace, slavery is freedom.

Chris,
Try again, he can teach without certification, just that his classes won't fulfill state instruction requirements. If his training is good enough to have value beyond simply fulfilling the forms he will have a market, if not, then his only value offered was given him by the state through the certification, not much value there.

In California you can take a test or you can complete a "certified course of instruction" for various licenses, part of basic law here. Here in most cases you can teach yourself without the need of a certified instructor or you can use anyone whom you think can teach you what you need to pass the test, certified instructors are a way around having to take the tests. Want to buy a permit of license, go to a certified instructor, they never fail you.

Truly free market would not have certified instructors, just tests that you have to pass.

But the state of Texas may disagree. The Department of Public Safety said in a statement that certified instructors of handgun training are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and added: "Conduct by an instructor that denied service to individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion would place that instructor's certification by the Department at risk of suspension or revocation." The department has said it has begun an investigation.
