If I were to judge by this forum I am alone in my arguments against the state. Yet it seems many Americans agree, the state is not merely wrong-headed, but poses a threat to Americans.

Americans Express Historic Negativity Toward U.S. Government

Key Findings:
  • 82% of Americans disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job.
  • 69% say they have little or no confidence in the legislative branch of government, an all-time high and up from 63% in 2010.
  • 57% have little or no confidence in the federal government to solve domestic problems, exceeding the previous high of 53% recorded in 2010 and well exceeding the 43% who have little or no confidence in the government to solve international problems.
  • 53% have little or no confidence in the men and women who seek or hold elected office.
  • Americans believe, on average, that the federal government wastes 51 cents of every tax dollar, similar to a year ago, but up significantly from 46 cents a decade ago and from an average 43 cents three decades ago.
  • 49% of Americans believe the federal government has become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. In 2003, less than a third (30%) believed this.

Well, some think government is controlled by those with the money to bankroll campaign and issue spending. So, why wouldn't the disapprove. Half think the government is not doing enough for them, and the other half think government is too intrusive.

This phenomenon isn't due to some awakening of the populace. It's by a systematic heavily funded campaign to enfluence public opinion.

Because they didn't say that, Tom, they said they don't trust government.

BTW, I'm as much against crony capitalism as you, but you don't fight that by attacking the symptoms, you go after the cause of the disease.

Chris is a closet anarchist. I would like to see just how long the country would hold together if his vision was followed. No more union for starters. Back to the 1700's.

And telco can't seem to stop engaging in ad hom. Facts and logic seem to irritate him like most liberals.

You've shown nothing BS, telco. In order to show anything you need facts and logic, not logical fallacies and emotionalism.

Let me help you. The funny thing about ad hom and straw men like yours is it's made up nonsense that says more about you than me. You need to know what you're talking about to argue anything, so let me set you on the right track. It's not anarchism but anarchocapitalism. And I don't hide it, I've been saying it for years. Now, if you don't like that, find an argument against it, not the mushy emotionalism you're posting.
