Recently I read a poll where voters were asked if they approved of the job Congress is doing and 12% said that they did. However when they were asked about their own congress member the approval rating jumped to over 50%.

I guess the question that has to be asked is whether anyone else could or could have done any better. This situation appears to be worldwide. I hardly think you can blame the economy on Obama. What you can fault him for is his wishy washiness, which is not what people expected, or voted for. A portion of this economic crisis is due to lack of confidence and that is where he could make a difference. His speeches before he was in office were a lot more inspiring, than those after he got elected. Maybe all this stuff like the birthers & tea party have put him on the defensive, but that is not where he needs to be. Rather than meet them head on, he evaded them. I hate to say it, but Hillary would have been a better choice.
