Twice now I have had my butt saved by a warning that came from the weather service and that I heard because I could leave the weather radio on without the disruptive noise. Do you have a weather radio with the S.A.M.E. function and do you use the function?

Just use an old Radio Shack weather radio without the warning function. Which unit do you have? |

I have the Midland WR-300, siren will wake the dead, which I need if I'm asleep. Nice part is that the radio is totally silent until it receives a watch or warning for the selected area and in the selected group, just turn it on and set the code. It also has an external antenna jack that lets a good antenna be plugged in, very few places where I haven't gotten signal. |

Might have to check it out. Not too many tornadoes pass through Atlanta, but was sitting in the middle of a field near French Camp, MS when some seriously heavy weather passed through. Heard later tornadoes were touching down all around. |

The background noise from a standard weather radio makes me crazy, with S.A.M.E. it's just like the radio is off until it has something to say! Search on S.A.M.E., there several new radios out that have been getting good reviews, just make sure you get one with an external antenna jack!

I use weather radio in my RV just like I use lawn chairs with my RV! Weather awareness is much more important in the RV than it is at home, home is always perfect weather!!!
