How bright can the future be if there are no priests?

Unlike most institutions, we think in centuries not years or even decades NG. Right now things appear worse than they are if you look long range.

Looks like handwaving to me, Mike.

Thinking in terms of centuries means very little if the world is moving away from your thoughts. The church can make all the long range plans it likes, but if no one is buying the results, it sounds like you got bupkis.

While I'm not really well-read in ecclesiastical history, it's hard to recall a time in the past when people were leaving the church in numbers seen today. France, perhaps, after 1789, but the numbers of believers never reached again levels seen prior to that date. Today, the great cathedrals sit nearly empty on Sunday mornings.

Can you point to another era where we might see historical parallels?

I understand Mormonism is the fastest growing religion in America. Kinda hard to lump the LDS in with mainstream Christianity, don't you think?
