I'm not sure if that is good or bad...

Some of the "Non-official" gospels portray a Jesus advocating individual faith and introspection rather than the classic church-believer relationship...

Maybe we're going where Jesus wanted us to go in the first place?

Interesting thought, Brew.

You have to admit Christianity would be a lot different if Paul hadn't gotten involved with it! How many of the current societal battles would we be fighting if Paul hadn't existed? I don't recall Jesus condemning homosexuality, for example; it was Paul who pitched a fit over it.

I suppose even Paul was included when Jesus said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

He might have been (by proxy since they never knew each other), but it's sure hard to tell that when you read some of Paul's letters.

Stephen said to the high priest and pharasees "ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost... which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted?.....And they stoned Stephen..... And Saul was consenting unto his death... as for Saul, he made havoc of the church....."

If Paul (Saul) was forgiven for his part in Stephens death, would not the same Jesus forgive a homosexual if forgiveness was asked? Paul did so much for Christ's "church," eventually, but (according to Christian scripture) Jesus will judge.

One thing is for certain and that is that each one of us will one day know what the truth is when we are no longer here on this earth.....

We'll only "know" the truth if all that religion stuff is correct.

If not, our knowing anything will cease at the moment of our death.

Good question, Ban.

Even more fundamental might be deciding which of the thousands of "truths" out there is worth the study?

Shouldn't you spend time on more than one to increases your odds of picking the right horse?

Considering the magnitude of choices, I would want to narrow it down to the religions that believe in only one God and take my chances. Preferably a God that does not require an intermediary through which I'd have to go to gain audience. Then I'd try to deal with that one God or any close personal relatives or associates of equal weight, if such exists, that this one God might have and hope that forgiveness and mercy are two of this God's traits, Then I'd hope for the best.
