There must be one good argument, breeze, for creationism? Come on, challenge us, make us think. |

With the exception of Intelligent Design and Irreducible Complexity, the creationist have nothing to do but endlessly recycle the same old tired and discredited arguments. This works among the believers because most of them are no closer to understanding WHY these arguments (special pleadings?) have been discredited and shown as complete bunk. As you read books like Morris' The Genesis Flood or Behe's [/i]Darwin's Black Box[/i] it becomes evident that the authors are not writing for a scientific audience, but the unscientific believers. They tend to gloss over the difficult bits and, as Kitzmiller v Dover so conclusively demonstrated, avoid and ignore ANY scientific research that counters their religious-based hypothesizing. Unfortunately, the unsophisticated reader of these books (and the endless web pages they have spawned) (and I am not laying the mantle of scientific sophistication across my own shoulders... I've just read a lot of science - enough to occasionally recognize crap when I see it) are as children without any mental tools necesary to identify what's being presented as one long argument from ignorance. Even worse, these readers don't want any tools to help them understand why creationism is not science. Ignorance is understandable. Willful ignorance is something else. We see willful ignorance here with breezy proudly announcing he doesn't read anything posted that might shake his religious convictions. Gonna have to leave this in your hands for a couple week, Chris. The wife and I are heading down to Florida this afternoon to spend some time looking for birds, walking the beach and watching the sun set over the St. Lucie River. |

Creationists preach to the gullible. Enjoy the trip, Eric. But do return, at least you're informative! |

Thanks, Chris. We just don't get enough time down there! Taking advantage of the collapse of the Florida condo market, we bought a 2 bedroom/2 bath place in the same complex where we had a 1/1.5. Asking price for the new apartment for about half of what it would have sold for 2 years ago. We offered 15% below that and the guy never even countered back to us, but snatched it right up. Of course, now we have a 1/1.5 sitting on the market and can only wait until the market turns around. Yeah, we'll be back, but I'd much prefer getting out of Atlanta for good! Alas, can't do that until the wife retires and that probably won't be another 4 years at the low end. If the stock market comes back... maybe a bit sooner. |
