Well, we need a battle system of sorts, so here are my basic thoughts:

Well, in each area on the world map we have a sticky. This sticky will be a list of all enemies in that region.

It would have stats (defense, HP, black/red magic, ect) and a description, also a picture (could be a sprite if anyone is willing to make them). so yeah, this will be a list of all enemies in that area and their stats.

Whenever you are in that area, you can choose to battle them whenever in your topic. Here is redmagus' battle system I stole:

Okay here is a basic concept, why not make it something like you defence plus any armor bonus +5 is your total defense and the attacker rolls a die (sized according to the power of the attack so like hitting someone with with a mace does more damage than say getting scratched by a cat) this die roll is added to the attack score and if this number is higher than the total defense any extra turns into damage, Ex: Fighter with an attack of 6 rolls a d6 for his attack with a sword and gets a 5 so his total attack is 11, he is hitting someone with a defense of 3 so their total defence is 8 (3+5=11). The total attack is higher than the total defense by 3 so the defender takes 3 damage. Of course this could be modified to be more or less complicated can apply to different situations. Also maybe Hp could be attack plus defense plus five or something so people with high attack and defense scores have more health than people with low ones, i.e. fighters can take more hits than mages.

Well so we could call a battle whenever in our topic, and be rewarded with the spoils as detailed in the sticky for that particular area.

Thoughts?

im good with that, :),

i was thinking about how rigid the classes are concerning statistics though first off i suppose i should introduce one concept at a time. I was trying to think up spells and differnent attack when i realized that we need another stat: speed! it would determine who went first when a battle started and maybe even determine if some one is fast enough to avoid a spells effect or an attack, also say the battle is going poorly and you want to run away. this could determine whether or not you can escape.

Here is an idea i came up with that allows for a bit more customization while still keeping each classes specific role. You start with 13 points (the extra are due to the addition of the speed stat) and can distribute them how you like but you have different additions and qualifications you must have for each class.

Fighter: there scores must be withen 1 of each other i.e. 5,4,4 put how you like

Thief: +2 speed -2 defence

Monk:-2 attack +2 speed
in addition none of the above classes can use magic

Red mage: all scores must be withen 2 of each other and no score can be below 2 i.e. 3,3,3,2,2- 4,3,2,2,2,- 5,2,2,2,2 ex

Black Mage: +2 Black magic -1 attack -1 defence

White Mage +2 White magic -2 speed

In addition all scores must be between 1and 10 (unless it is a stat you cant use)

I came up with these after reading the class descriptions, i think it will help with some customization so we dont have 3 of the exact same red mage. Tell me what you guys think . . .
