Out of all the Final Fantasy games that were released, this particular installment impressed me the most due to the varying themes of love, betrayal, and forgiveness involved. In my opinion, Cecil's transition from Dark Knight to Paladin symbolizes his willingness to move on in order to correct his past mistakes. He also extends this new feeling to Kain and Golbez who were both brainwashed against their will. Ultimately, this gives Cecil the ability to atone for his sins and save the crystals from being exploited by evil. I would also have to say that love is an important aspect of the plot which is represented by Rosa's devotion to Cecil, Kain's pining for Rosa, Edward's mourning for Anna, and many more. Although it might seem bland at first, Final Fantasy IV has one of the compelling storylines in the series despite the constant change of characters in your party.
