It's not everyones cup of tea, but this was a favorite of mine. If you wanted to be able to do everything in the game you needed friends, or to play a bunch of differant characters to power up thier families. The miasma gave a reason to keep everyone together, but that chalice was a pain. Also, it shouldn't have the Final Fantasy name attached to it. It should stand on it's own as a unique game. |

I was thinking of buying this game sometime this week--so you think it would be worth it? I'd like to hear more about it before getting it though. xD |

Well the game is great multiplayer game, if you have the GBAs to cover more players (each player needs thier own). A one player game can be played with a Gamecube controaler if you have no GBA. The point of the game has you going out in a caravan to find myrrh to replinish the power of a crystal within your hometown. This crystal holds a poisonous miasma at bay. The town is populated by your party members, who you can create individually, and thier families. The family father also has a job which may help other party members (say your neighbor is a merchant, you can buy things from them). The game is broken into years, with each year requiring you to get three drops of myrrh in your challice to fill it. The challice is important as well for your adventure. It is like a portable crystal that lets you survive away from town. In a multiplayer game, you must carry it around, basically taking one of the players out of the action if quick movement is needed. Otherwise, you can put down the challice and fight at full strength. Solo, the challice duty is shared by you and a moogle helper. The moogle can hold it long enough, but it will get tired now and then and ask you to hold it for a bit. Back to collecting myrrh. Myrrh comes from these special trees. They all seem to be in dangerous places, and as such, requires you to fight your way to them. When you collect myrrh from a tree, you can't collect any more from that one for the rest of that year as well as all the next. This forces you out deeper into the world. Things call miasma streams, which are large eddies of miasma may block your path at times too keeping you from some trees. These streams have an element to them which will only allow you to pass through them if your challice has that element attuned to it (you can attune it at hot spots in certain areas). After you defeat a boss, you get to power up your character by selecting from a group of artifacts that are in the paticular area you're in. These artifacts give stat ups, more health, more inventory room, or even materials for making gear. You can play areas over and over for as many artifacts as you can get with a few rules. You can only get a specific artifact once (materials, as much as you can carry though). You can play areas more then once because the story only goes on if myrrh is gathered. If you already got myrrh from a tree that year, or it's in the following year you got myrrh there, you exit the area pretty much with a giant pause button on the 'timer' to save the town. Your town can house eight caravan members in four person families each. These families get better (shops inventory, allowence, gifts, ect...) as that character goes out adventuring and sends letters and gifts back. So you'll need to play with more then one character to get everything in the game. For example: The alchemist family can design the strongest weapon in the game eventually. Eventually, the blacksmith family can construct the strongest weapon in the game. The shop family will eventually sell the materials needed to make the strongest weapon in the game. That's three characters for the strongest weapon... Characters: There are four races. Lities, a short but cute race that will crush you under thier boots. They are offensively strong spear wielders. Avoid casting magic if you can. Sloooow... Clavats, the human like race that focus on defense. They are sword and shield wielders. They have the strongest defensive gear. Beyond that, they are average. Yukes, powerful magic wielders that look like, uh, tall birds? You never see thier faces. They charge thier magic twice as fast as anyone else and have twice the range. Selkies are thief like. They have quick moves. They charge special attacks just as fast as Yukes charge magic. They also have range with special attacks beyond all others. That's a starter course at the game. If you have any other questions or would like me to try to clearify something I didn't cover, just aska away.

Oh wow xD that seemed really thorough just for a starter course! I ended up getting it, so once my brother tires of Zelda: Twilight Princess, I'll get ahold of the GC and get to try it out. =D Thanks^^ I'll let ya know what I think of it when I get a chance to play. |

Like I said, great multiplayer. Remember when I said you need to use more then one player to get anywhere as your town's concerned? Well, multiplayer covers that easily. Plus hey, when is it not fun to play with friends? |
