History:
Aliana's childhood was anything but typical, her family was the laughing stock of her small Andoran town. Her father was an inventor, the kind whose inventions were very eccentric and or never functioned like they were supposed to. Her mother, a baker, had a reputation for providing other services besides making and delivering her cakes.

From the time Aliana could remember, about 4 years old, she had to teach herself how to defend herself - all the town children, old and young alike, found her the perfect target for their taunts and jeers. Over the years she grew very good at hand to hand combat, she also grew more and more withdrawn from society. By 10, she was a staple in her mom's bakery and by 15 was known for her pies, cakes and pastries. But she wanted more; she wanted to be Aes Sedai. She had seen a few before - ones passing through town - and from then on fantasized of being one. Alone in her room, she spent many nnights trying to imagine what it would be like to channel; how it would feel to be feared and respected. She craved that more than anything else.

The night before her 16th birthday, she sat both of her parents down at the family table and told them of her plans to go to Tar Valon, to the Aes Sedai, to be tested for the spark. Her father was ecstatic at her news, he hoped she would carry a few of his "best" inventions with her to the Aes Sedai. Aliana just rolled her eyes and gave her dad a sympathetic smile. Her mother on the other hand was irate! She screamed about Aes Sedai being witches and how she didn't want a witch in her family (Ali's great- and grandfather were both Children of the Light). She also cried about Aliana leaving her duties at the bakery.

"But dear, if you leave town, who will help me in the bakery, everyone just loves your cakes and pastries?" Aliana cut her off before she had the chance to say anythign else "Mother, the bakery is your responsibility not mine; the only reason I ever started helping you was to get away from those bloody kids in town! Besides, it would do good for you to do other work besides lay on your back all day!" The words were barely out of her mouth when her cheek was met by her mother's hand - hard. Without another word, Aliana marched to her room, packed a few belongings - 2 dresses, a riding habit, the money she had saved, and a few trinkets. She left the house without a word and never looked back. She was able to pay for passage into Caemlyn where she bought a horse and worked a week in the bakery for some extra cash. She worked her way eastward toward Tar Valon only stopping long enough to eat and sleep.

With the in sight, she stopped at the river bank to smooth her hair and wash her face and hands. She also ducked behind a bush and changed from her riding habit to a grayish divided riding dress. She hoped she at least looked presentable. It was midmorning and things were bustling in the square outside the Tower. She walked up the shiny white steps, fear building in her throat. Inside, there were groups of girls in white running around doing chores and girls in white banded dresses sitting in groups talking or studying. It was one of these girls tht first approached Aliana.

"Welcome to the White Tower, are you just for a petition or are you here to be tested?" Aliana smiled and replied "I am here to be tested." "Dont worry" the Accepted told her "your things brought to you later. Now I must take you to the Mistress of Novices for your test, and don't worry it won't hurt." She said that last bit with a smile and a small laugh, Aliana hoped she wasn't joking.

As they reached the door the Accepted knocked and announced Aliana's intent. She was met by a stern but pretty woman who rushed her into the disorganized office, almost as if she thought it would be a waste of time. But to Aliana's surprise the woman smiled, it seemed Aliana did have the spark after all and apparently it was quite dominant. She found herself in novice white later that day and was being shown where eerythign was. She already knew she was going to like it here.

In her few years as a novice, Aliana learned how to read (a skill her parents never found important) and took as many classes as her chore schedule woudl allow. The only thing she found she didn't have time to learn was combat techniques. Fighting had always fascinated her. Maybe she would find time for that later.

What seemed hours after the last dinner bell, there was a knock at her door. A somber faced Sister with a Blue shawl pulled tightly aroudn her shoulders stared back at a surprised Aliana. "It is time." With that she turned and started down the hallway, expecting Ali to follow. By the time the sun was thinking of rising Aliana had passed her test for Accepted and was proudly wearing her Great Serphant ring. Too bad she was too tired to show it to any of her friends.

Life as an Accepted was much more laid back than that of a novice. She found she had fewer chores, more choices in her classes and their schedules, and she finally foudn time for some of her hobbies. Many days she could be found out in the yards showing the other girls how to block a hit or trip an attacker. Here she was in her element. It was also during this time she discovered ehr talent for Keeping. It was quite by accident - she had found the most beautiful rose the last week of summer and was experimenting with weaves. She wove thin threads of Spirit and Air around the rose. There was a knock at the door so she released Saidar and put the rose back on her shelf. Weeks later one of the other Accepteds commented on how pretty it was, asking her how she got a rose this late in the season and how it still looked so good. They decided to take the rose to the nearest Sister they could find - a Green - and asked her if she could tell them why the rose still looked so pretty. She smiled and addressed Aliana "Looks like you have a talent for Keeping my dear, it allows you to use weaves to perserve things such as food or plants like this rose. Do you remember how you did it?" Ali's brow creased "I honestly don't remember what I did Aes Sedai, is it something I can be taught?" The Sister smiled, "Lucky for you I have that Talent also, if you like, after your daily schedule I can work with you so you can learn and understandhow to use your new talent. It is a quite useful one indeed."
In the months that followed, Aliana grew very close to that Green Sister and started showing interest in her Ajah. In the rest of her time as an Accepted, Aliana took and taught as many classes as she could fit into her day, but also spent as much time with the Green as she could. When the time came for Ali to test for the shawl, she was more than ready. The anticipation had been building in her for months. After completing her tests she proudly embraced the Oath Rod and welcomed the weight of each Oath as it settled into her bones. Then the time came for her to choose her Ajah - no question there, Aliana was a Green. She proudly accepted her Green Shawl and was welcomed into the open arms of her Sisters. It was on her 30th birthday that Aliana became a Sister of the Green Ajah.

In her years at the Tower, Ali had really come out of her shell and into her own. She discovered she liked making new friends and being social. Over her years as a Sister, Ali kept to this by teaching a class whenever the chance was given to her. She taught quite a few of the new novices how to read, many more the art of self defense and even found time to be a student again - learning the art of sword play and forms from the Gaidin. It was also in this time she found out she had a very dangerous talent - Blossom of Fire - this sent out columns of fire that first imploded then exploded. Quite useful but never the less dangerous.
It was a quiet fall afternoon just a couple years ago that Aliana was asked to lead her Ajah. With tears in her eyes and honor and joy on her face, Ali accepted this new position in her life and proceeded to hug all the Sisters in the room - the whole Ajah. She has proudly served this post ever since, always keeping the best interests of her Ajah and the White Tower in mind.
