Greetings, friends. Among the topics listed on this board is lore questions, and thus I have come for some assistance. I am currently contemplating a story following one of Galerion's apprentices after the fateful battle between Vanus and Mannimarco. If anyone has any information on the subject of the battle, what happened afterwards, etc., I would by very grateful. Here are my thoughts as of yet:

Mannimarco goes to Tamriel on a mission from his Psijiic teachers, only to amass a following of necromancers and slowly stalk the land. Galerion later follows him, them having been rivals of a sort previously, and quickly creates the Mages Guild. Eventually, Galerion goes on the march with an army of mages and battlemages, to confront his foe. They meet in a mountain pass, exchange threats, and start the battle. The necromancers and mages all kill each other for a while, while Mannimarco is secretly turning himself into a lich. Eventually, Galerion somehow dies, presumably killed by the Worm King. All the necromancers are dead, and most of the mages are as well. Mannimarco takes Galerion's corpse away for his necromantic purposes. The survivors relate the tale and go back to their Guild, thinking Mannimarco dead.

My story follows a member of the Order of the Lamp, which I believe is a group of battlemages that follow(ed) Galerion. He is the only one who knows Mannimarco is still alive, having witnessed it from a dtich where he was fortunate enough to have hidden from the Worm King. His fellow mages don't believe him, save two. The trio then go on a hunt for Mannimarco, starting with searching for clues in Galerion's journal and at the battlefield. After that I haven't figured out yet, but it's in the progress. I hope to culminate the story with a duel between the protagonist, Mannimarco, and one of the two helper friends (who happens to be wavering between sticking with his friend or siding with Mannimarco). I have an ending in mind as well, and despite how cliche it is, I like it.

Anyone got any lore or story advice they can give me? Thanks.

Mannimarco, King of Worms

Guide to the Psijic Order

Mannimarco and Galerion were both Psijic students; however, Mannimarco was exiled from the Order for his Necromancy. Galerion was evicted from the Order for creating the Mage's Guild. He wasn't really building an army against Mannimarco, that's just literary flair and an attempt at rising Galerion's mythical status.

He just created the Mage's Guild to combat the elitism of the Psijic Order, really. However, he did contest against Mannimarco; whether or not there truly was an epic battle has not been solidly certified, but there was animosity between the two sorcerers. Exactly WHEN Mannimarco became a lich is uncertain, considering he was likely a lich at the time of TES II: Daggerfall. He is, however, the world's first documented confirmed lich.

He's also now supposed to be a God, manifested in the Necromancer's Moon, after the Warp in the West.

The Order of the Lamp is the military arm of the Mage's Guild; likely, the battlemages found within the Arcane University in Oblivion are a part of this Order. They act like the Guardsmen of the Guild, if you will; likely also bodyguards to the Archmage. I would not be surprised if members of the Order of the Lamp are also Battlemages within the Imperial Legion.

I knew they were Psjjj, but did they get kicked out before or after going to Tamriel?

That makes sense.

And since my story is to be pre-dragon break, I should be fine on that one.

And I figured that was how that worked too, I just wanted to know if anyone had any fun facts on the subject.

I get the impression that students of the Psijic Old Way are taught on the Isle of Artaeum, and until their studies culminate, or the they are required as counselors of Kings, as is the way of the Psijic. Therefore, being exiled, they came to Tamriel AFTER being evicted.

Ah, the story I had read misled me then. Thank you for clarifying, I have yet to study the Psijiic.
