"I wanted Snake to have a more subdued performance expressed through subtle facial movements and tone of voice rather than words," Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima said. "Furthermore, the game takes place in 1984 when Snake is 49 years old. Therefore, we needed someone who could genuinely convey both the facial and vocal qualities of a man in his late 40s. It's different from anything we've done before."

Poor guy. If only he was 2 years older.

My guess? This is after something happened to Big Boss, right? Hayter might do the voice of Big Boss pre-accident, then Sutherland after the accident (I don't know, the fire / explosion / sarin gas affected his vocal chords) and Hayter comes back in as Solid Snake for a super-brief cameo at the end that leads into Metal Gear 1.

I would believe that if Hayter was not hating on Konami on twitter. Unless, of course, this is all a PR stunt for the eventual annoucement.

Hayter is not involved in the next Metal Gear.

Worst. Decision. Ever.

I have a feeling this is just yet another hoax by Kojima and that though Sutherland is voicing Big Boss, Hayter will still be voicing Snake.

Either that, or Kojima and Hayter are having a lover's spat.

Nice!!

Anyway, I may be in the minority when I say this, but Fuck You Kiefer Sutherland! What the hell kind of name is that anyway? I'm honestly not a fan of having big named actors doing voice work in games. Much like seeing Tom Cruise in a movie for the 1000th time, the familiarity completely ruins any sense of immersion for me. I have a hard time seeing the characters as just themselves instead of seeing Tom Cruise acting as a secret agent spy sex time guy.

I've figures once i heard that Sutherland was in it then its gonna tire into MG1, having Hayter voice Big Boss and Solid Snake would give away that they are clones early.

Finally, Dave will have the time to take that poop he's been wanting to let loose since 1998. I cannot think of any other reason he's sounded more and more constipated as the series progressed...

....Solid Snake indeed :P

I personally think this is all a PR stunt, and that he will be involved.

Either way, I'm still buying the game.

Wasn't there a video of a bandaged man claiming to be the voice actor for Big Boss and/or Solid Snake? Was that Kiefer or has that other guy not yet been identified?

And this is a little off-topic, but I think its funny how more than a few MGS fanboys seem to only know Kiefer as Jack Bauer, but the fact is that by the time the first season of 24 started filming, he'd already been acting for over a decade.
