Nowadays, the site is a parking lot. However, the spots where the students were killed are blocked off by lights and no one can park there.

I've been there...it's a morbid kind of tourist spot that I take out-of-town friends to. You hear about it sometimes...it's the main reason anyone really knows of Kent State University...but it's just kind of legend unless you actually see the spot. Like Gettysburg, but with less killing.

I just want to shove this in the face of anyone who thinks that the government is being overly oppressive nowadays...we learned the lesson that day the hard way.

Man...I had heard of it before, but I just read a bunch of stuff on it. Places like that have a "feeling" to them when you're there, don't they? Just a kind of powerful atmosphere.

A little bit. Any feeling is offset by the fact that the places the students died are now (primarily) parking spots. It is interesting, though...one of the few claims to fame of my undergrad alma mater.

Yeah, it's hard to celebrate that around here with the May 4 Memorial people always around.
